Pegged a trouble spot for years, portions of Signal Mountain Road, officially named U.S. 127, were washed out last week due to heavy rainstorm.

Reportedly criticizing the state’s borrowing trends, Governor Christopher Christie is said to have known of the decision to issue the securities for the continuation of the state’s transportation projects.

Called the Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) initiative and funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Dallas and San Diego areas will receive $14 million as the nation’s first demonstration sites for new intelligent transportation system (ITS) technologies that help fight congestion and enhance travel.

Oops they did it again. Due to a mix design error and other lapses at the NCDOT, 18 miles of bad pavement was laid on I-795. Late last month, crews started to mill 1.5 inches of the crumbling road and will add another 3 inches of new asphalt in an effort to strengthen the pavement. With infrastructure funding under such scrutiny these days, can we really afford to be making these kinds of mistakes?
