200,000 pounds of white steel arrive in Dallas
Two of the largest and most highly anticipated pieces of steel for the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge arrived in Dallas last week. The pieces, which weigh 100,000 pounds each, are part of the arch feature and centerpiece of the Santiago Calatrava-designed bridge that will span the Trinity River Corridor. The bridge is currently under construction, as part of the $2 billion Trinity project, which is one of the largest urban developments in the nation, stretching 20 miles through Dallas and encompassing 10,000 acres.

AP: $1.2 billion in stimulus is going to 'sound' bridges
This Associated Press story, which is part of a broader analysis of America's deficient bridges, says that "of the 2,476 bridges scheduled to receive stimulus money so far, nearly half have passed inspections with high marks, according to federal data. Those 1,123 sound bridges received such high inspection ratings that they normally would not qualify for federal bridge money, yet they will share in more than $1.2 billion in stimulus money."
