WASHINGTON, D.C. — With no new multi-year highway/transit investment bill in place, is the transportation construction market in danger of heading over a cliff in 2011? What are the current market conditions at the state level? And how are the transportation infrastructure investments in the stimulus impacting the market?
All of these questions and more will be answered during a 90-minute American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) webinar, scheduled Friday, Dec. 10, from 10:30 a.m.—12:00 p.m., EST, and led by ARTBA's senior economist and top lobbyist. Armed with the latest market intelligence, ARTBA Vice President of Policy & Senior Economist Alison Black will offer a "behind the scenes" look at the economic factors that will impact the transportation design and construction market sector next year.
Black, a 10-year ARTBA veteran, is an economics doctoral candidate at The George Washington University. In September 2010, she authored a landmark 100+ page economic profile of the U.S. transportation construction industry. She will discuss current market conditions at the national and state levels, provide a stimulus implementation progress report, and unveil her comprehensive 2011 forecast.
ARTBA Senior Vice President of Government Relations Dave Bauer also will participate and share his insights about the prospects for 2011 passage of long-term highway, transit, and aviation authorization bills, and assess the outlook for other transportation-related legislation in the 112th Congress. Bauer joined ARTBA in January 1997 after spending seven years on Capitol Hill as a key staffer on the Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee. He leads ARTBA's direct lobbying and grassroots initiatives, and has extensive expertise on federal transportation capital investment issues and programmatic improvements.
All participants will receive copies of the PowerPoint presentations. Registration is $300 (individual ARTBA members) and $600 (group rate for five or more in one location) and is available in the "Meetings & Events — ARTBA webinars" section of www.artba.org, or by contacting ARTBA's Jim Colleton at jcolleton@artba.org or 202-289-4434.
