Popovic begins International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering presidency

NORTHBROOK, ILL. — Predrag (Pete) Popovic, an internationally recognized expert and industry leader in bridge and structural repairs, began serving his three-year term as president of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE). A member of IABSE since 1985, he is only the second individual from the United States to hold this position.

Founded in 1929, IABSE is comprised of nearly 4,000 members in 100 countries. IABSE’s mission is to promote the exchange of knowledge and to advance the practice of structural engineering worldwide.

Popovic currently serves as vice president and senior principal at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc., an engineering and architectural consulting firm headquartered in Northbrook, Ill. He’s been with the organization for more than 30 years.
