TALLAHASSEE, FLA. — The District 3 office of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) selected HNTB Corporation to design resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation improvements along Interstate 10. Work will include a 6.5-mile segment in Leon County and a 5.5-mile segment in Holmes County, with designs for slope stabilization, guardrails, call boxes, and additional features to reduce animal intrusions onto the highway.
"We're pleased to be supporting FDOT and working to reduce accidents in the region," said Jim Drapp, principal-in-charge. "With the recent addition of several new employees from the area, we are growing a strong transportation practice in the Panhandle."
Jim Ely, vice chairman HNTB toll services, is headquartered in the Tallahassee office. The office's most recent addition is Kelsea Garney, E.I., who serves as a roadway designer. Ryan Patterson, P.E., also joined the Tallahassee office earlier in 2011. He has more than 13 years of related experience in northwest Florida, including project management, roadway design, bridge replacement, traffic control plans design, stormwater pollution prevention planning, permitting and quantity estimations.
Other HNTB work in the region includes serving as the project manager and engineer-of-record for the 4.5-mile widening and realignment of County Road 284 in Washington County, Fla., and designing the replacement bridge over Little Pine Barren Creek on State Road 97 in Walnut Hill, Fla.
