HDR named independent quality firm for Cleveland Innerbelt project

CLEVELAND, OHIO — Travelers in the downtown Cleveland area will face fewer traffic delays, thanks to the Cleveland Innerbelt Project. HDR is part of the design-build team tasked with delivering Construction Group 1 on this $287 million project. HDR will provide independent design review and construction quality control. The team also includes Walsh Construction Co., which leads the team, and HNTB, which will provide design services.

The reconstruction plan will improve safety and reduce congestion and traffic delays by modernizing interstate travel on I-71, I-77, and I-90 through downtown Cleveland. It includes construction of a new I-90 bridge over the Cuyahoga River Valley, deck replacement and rehabilitation of multiple bridges, and reconstruction of ramps and surface roadways. The project is scheduled to be completed in November 2013.
