PORTLAND, MAINE AND NORWOOD, MASS. — GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc., an environmental and geotechnical consulting firm, has been named as the geotechnical subconsultant of the Reed & Reed – T.Y. Lin International Design-Build team for the Maine Department of Transportation Veteran’s Memorial Bridge project in South Portland and Portland, Maine.
The bids were opened in January of this year and the team received the highest technical score and the lowest price/best value of the three short listed firms that submitted bids for the job. The winning bid was $63,122,000. The project includes replacing an existing 2,000-foot long bridge with a new bridge carrying four automobile lanes and a bicycle lane along Route 1A over the Fore River from South Portland to Portland, Maine. Chris Snow, P.E. of GZA is the project manager and Russ Morgan, P.E. and Walt Jaworski, P.E., ScD of GZA are the principal in charge and consultant/reviewer.
The same team has also been named to the final bid list for their technical design proposals for the Howard-Piscataquis Bridge Design-Build project in Howland, Maine and the Canaan-Pittsfield Sibley Pond Bridge Design-Build project in Cannan and Pittsfield, Maine.
