Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute announces 2010 Design Awards winners

The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) announced the winners of its biennial 2010 CRSI Design Awards program. For more than 37 years, the CRSI Design Awards program has honored excellence in reinforced concrete structures and acknowledged their designers. The CRSI Design Awards program is open to architects, engineers, contractors and fabricators — entrants may be individuals or teams. Eligible structures must be located in the United States, Canada or Mexico. Here are the winners and honorable mentions in the Bridges category:

Award Winners

  • David Kreitzer Lake Hodges Bicycle Pedestrian Bridge, San Diego
    Submitted by T.Y. Lin International, San Diego. Reinforcing bar fabricator by CMC Fontana Steel, Etiwanda, Calif.
  • The New I-35W Bridge, Minneapolis
    Submitted by FIGG, Tallahassee, Fla. Reinforcing bar fabricated by Simcote, Inc., St. Paul, Minn. and Gerdau Ameristeel, West Allis, Wisc.

Honorable Mention

  • SH58 Ramp A Flyover Bridge, Golden, Colo.
    Submitted by Summit Engineering Group, Inc. Reinforcing bar fabricated by Encon Bridge Co. LLC, Denver.
