Brazil prepares for 2016 Olympics with major renovations

Being named the host of the 2016 Olympic Games and 2014 World Cup is no small task. With millions of people infiltrating the city all at once, a city needs an efficient transportation system, strong infrastructure, and sufficient housing and stadiums, among other projects. Lucky for Brazil, approximately 60 percent of the sports venues needed are already completed, thanks to the country’s preparation in hosting the 2007 Pan American Games (sports facilities were built to Olympic specifications), according to an article in The Miami Herald. The article also states the budget for the Games: around $15 billion, a third of which will come from the city.
