Baker selected for design-build of Jimmy Deloach Connector in Georgia

ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Transportation selected the LPA Group Inc. (LPA), a unit of Michael Baker Corporation, as the lead designer for design and construction of the Jimmy Deloach Connector in Chatham County, Ga. LPA is teamed with Archer Western Contractors, Ltd., to deliver this $72.7 million design-build project. LPA’s design fee is approximately $4.5 million.

The project includes 3.1 miles of new highway construction between Bourne Avenue and the existing Jimmy Deloach Connector outside the city of Savannah, Ga., with a typical section consisting of four concrete travel lanes separated by a median barrier. LPA will provide a number of engineering and design services, including final roadway and bridge plans, right of way plans, right of way acquisition, utility relocation plans, and construction support. Work on the project will begin in December 2011 with construction expected to be completed in four years.
